Happy new year everyone

Well considering this blog was only re-launched about an hour ago there are probably no readers yet - but Happy New Year everyone anyway, have a good one and as mentioned at http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=34715 by The Unbeliever Will the last person to leave 2005, please turn off the lights, set loose the Rottweilers and Pinschers, pay the outstanding Teklom account in full, activate the burglar alarm, turn off the gas, and then switch off 2005?

Cheers all ...

More Jonga comments ...

Here is a slightly edited copy of an email I sent to Jonga - thought I'd give everyone an insite ...

  • When searching for 'Tonight on SABC 3' their are not results in the right hand pane - how about removing the pane or listing 'Also tonight' so if I am looking at Mweb then the pane could suggest something simillar on SABC 3 - but otherwise this feature is great
  • Search history button on the home page please!
  • The news is great but I think ti would be even better if it had images as well - at the moment you just see text, especially as their is no clear definition between spaces - some images would help draw the eye (I think!)
  • I just noticed the web page screenshots - it seems like a nice idea but mabye an option to turn them off to save bandwith etc. - mabye just not displaying them if not image is avalible at the little white blocks are just clutering the space ...
  • The preiview tool is great - I don't suppose it would be possible for their to be some way in which it centres on/only displays the pages content as scrolling is difficults (ok - I am fussy :P)
  • Prehaps also streetch the whole webpage a bit more - there seems to be a bit too much white space on the right ...
  • Back onto the other results pane - when Searching how about being able to collaps certain sections of the results? I mean I might not really be looking for property right now so it would be nice to have all property hidden (and stored in a cookie, naturally) untill I want to see it again ...

BBC Open News Archive - why not us!

Seems like a bit of a pain that we don't get cool things like this here in South Africa ... Everyone leave a comment and prehaps they will allow it internationaly :D

"For the first time in its history BBC News is opening its archives to the UK public for a trial period. You can download nearly 80 news reports covering iconic events of the past 50 years including the fall of the Berlin Wall, crowds ejecting soldiers from Beijing's Tiananmen Square..."

New South African Search engine - some interesting results

Some people may already have heard of Jonga - probably the best (and newest) South African Search engine avalible. There is also a International search which sometimes even compares to Google, although I still find myself using Google for the bigger-as-such searches ...

Also today Jonga launched news.jonga.co.za which although isn't as nice as Google's is great as Google doesn't give us South African News.

Jonga is probably a good search engine to watch.

"Go Well, Go Shell" because "my bank is my bank" ... "my phone is my"... and so forth

Well I just saw this post at MyADSL - it seems these 'which adverts do you hate' posts come up often ... oh well - my other comments are there, but I also like the idea of no adverts on tv at all :p
